Africa

I have been working with my friend Lyndsay of Amani Travel to bring a very special project to my shop. The Made In Africa pop up. Lyndsay has sourced some beautifully handmade bracelets in her travels to Tanzania to help us adopt orphaned elephants at The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. One of Africa's most reputable wildlife conservation organizations, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was founded in Kenya in 1977, and is today the most successful orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world.
Lyndsay travels to Tanzania often and visits with Ginyanyi, an experienced metalsmith, designer and craftsperson. He lives with his family in a traditional Datgoa (one of Tanzania's approximately 120 tribes) village in Tanzania's Rift Valley. Half of the sale price of each bracelet, not half of the profits, goes to adopting elephants. Our last order of bracelets was Ginyanyi's largest ever. Your purchase not only helps to support an artisan and his family but is helping to support the conservation of African elephants.
